Honoring the Histories and Legacies of Black Ann Arbor

To celebrate the founding of Jones School in Ann Arbor in 1922 and help highlight and celebrate the vibrant history and legacies of the Black community in Ann Arbor, we are planning a series of events and activities in the 2022-2023 academic year. One of our primary goals is to create a historical marker that honors these histories and place it along Fifth Avenue, behind the building that housed Jones School from 1922-1965.
